Hard commodities
Our company provides expert advice and marine cargo surveys for a comprehensive
range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and minerals. The range of solid bulk
cargoes we handle is extensive and includes iron ore, various metal
concentrates, coal, alumina, fertilisers, sulphur, cement and many other types
of solid bulk cargoes.
We frequently investigate incidents and disputes relating to the storage and carriage of metals, metal products (billets, tubes, coils, plates, bars, flats) and minerals.
We frequently investigate incidents and disputes relating to the storage and carriage of metals, metal products (billets, tubes, coils, plates, bars, flats) and minerals.
The main hazards associated with the carriage of solid bulk cargoes relate to
structural damage, loss of stability and chemical reactions of cargoes.
Shortages also seem to occur regularly and are part of our survey work. Many
solid bulk cargoes are classified under the International Maritime Solid Bulk
Cargoes Code (IMSBC) and require special attention during loading, transport
and discharge. Our team has been involved in numerous cases of liquefaction,
water damage leading to chemical reactions and other typical claims where a
full understanding of the cargo was essential.
